Venue: Almondsbury FC

Comp: FA Tesco Women's Premier League

Emma JOHNSON struck in injury time to secure Doncaster Rovers Belles maximum points against Bristol Academy and achieve her team's target of beating last year's points total.

In an even game Doncaster were somewhat fortunate to take a lead into the interval. Precious HAMILTON struck in the 40th minute to give the South Yorkshire side the lead.

Club captain Grace McCATTY looked to have ensured a share of the spoils for Bristol Academy when she pulled her side level with just over 20 minutes left.

The home side pushed for a second but found Marie Hourihan in fine form in the Doncaster goal. The England hopeful was in the right place at the right time with a string of saves to keep Doncaster level before they hit the Bristolians with an injury-time sucker-punch.

And Doncaster's assistant manager Paul Green admitted the result was harsh on the Bristol girls.

“There was not a lot in the game so we are delighted to have taken the three points. Our keeper Marie made some important saves when we really needed her today,” he said.

“The girls are delighted to end the season with more points than we finished with last time. We can improve and will look to recruit more quality over the summer ready for the Super League season.”
